It was raining today, which resulted in two things; me finishing this piece and deciding on the final color scheme of GlOOoooOOmmmmmm!! Heehee. I've been wanting to draw Kikyou becuase I really love her character and always enjoy the really emotional moments that drive her story forward. So it was about time I tried to do something with her in it.
Anyway, this piece is really nothing how I first imagined but, oh well. I always feel like her second chance is all about letting go of the past, finding balance between her betrayal and making things right. And yes, that means saying farewell to Inuyasha one day.
"Because we need to move forward, the time will come I have to let you go."
---
Oh, and just as a side note. If you don't like Kikyou... please, I don't want to hear about how you want to bash her.
Thank you, that is all.

- EDIT -
Gah, apologies for the multiple appearances in the watchers' lists if it did! ^_^; Just made a few slight changes.
Yay, I've missed your work so much! Kikyou looks really beautiful here(in a lonely, sad kinda way ^_^ and the coloring looks so awesome. I really like the bg, it really sets that melancholy mood that usually surrounds her. Wonderful work as always!
Very nice. I have always found Kikyou to be a very tragic character. I hate it when people portray her as some evil undead bitch. She is a woman who was saddled with a great responsibility, was tricked into hating the one she loved, and then torn back from the dead only to find that everyone has moved on without her, even her love who is torn between her and her reincarnation. Not only that, but she still feels it is her duty to defeat Naraku and finish purifying the Sacred Jewel, and after that, what does she have left? She cannot look forward to living happily as a normal human woman anymore, because she is not a normal human woman. After she has fulfilled her responsibility, she really has no more reason to cling to life. And I don't care who you are, that is a very depressing thought.
She looks rather angry here. Perhaps cursing her destiny as a living dead? Cursing that she fell for Naraku's trap? One can only guess. The whole atmosphere of the pic is nicely done. Gives the sense of Kikyou's loneliness.
Unfortunately, the anime loses much of the tragedy of Kikyou that you find in the manga. Some find her easy to hate - myself, I don't hate her, but I don't like what she does oftentimes, either. I definitely wouldn't want to be in her shoes - being brought back to an imitation body after such a tragic death, only to find that the one I cared about has moved on. Somehow I doubt I'd have much grace and dignity in dealing with that situation.
Kikyou's definitely one of the deepest characters in the series. I only hope she finds peace in the end, since it's pretty obvious that she will have to return to the grave.
Great job on this. You really captured her beautifully. The sense of lonliness. Sadness.
